Internet television

Internet television is an absolutely new way to broadcast television programs. Its main feature is that the distribution of such television content doesn't require anything but the existing broadband infrastructure. Rapid growth of fast internet technologies recently allowed large amounts of information to be transferred to the end user. Video signal is just one type of such information. And high quality video image is something that can attract new customers to the existing internet service providers.
The technology of streaming video live over the internet was already widely used by programmers and other IT specialists before the idea to stream TV channels appeared. The problem was the low speed of data transfer in the existing narrowband networks. Today, when the number of people with fast ADSL, Wi-Fi cable or satellite internet connection is rapidly increasing, this becomes an attractive market for internet service providers. In some cases such service is provided free for the subscribers in order to enlarge the audience of TV channels whose primary source of income is advertising.
But there are also certain problems connected with the implementation of this possibility by the providers. First of all, internet television would take up certain bandwidth which means you'll have slower internet connection. For those who provide internet services at 100 megabit per second this is no problem, but for ADSL providers whose internet speed is about 4 megabit per second there is practically no such possibility.
