Television channels

The development of television technologies today (especially the invention of digital television and satellite broadcasting) made it possible to broadcast infinite numbers of television channels without the loss of quality to large numbers of viewers all around the world. The increase of possibilities means the increase of competition between the TV makers. And modern marketing strategies have proven that success in the future will be defined by the ability of the service providers to give different categories of viewers exclusively what they want. Roughly speaking, people are not very excited about the idea of having to wait for their favorite shows for the whole week. They want it right now and all day long. And the possibility to broadcast large number of TV channels has just accelerated this process. Among the first ones were such channels as MTV and Discovery Channel. They provide their content to specific groups of people interested in completely different things (music videos for teenagers and adolescents and popular science for everybody who's interested in it). Today the number of television channels specializing in one subject and oriented at a certain audience is even hard to count all over the world. Depending on the type of your personality, and what you are interested in you may choose and watch history channels, sports channels, music channels, hunting channels, reality channels, science channels all day long seven days a week. And the number of such specialized channels will be increasing.
