Types of TV shows

Everyone is unique and everybody loves something different. This applies to people's tastes in everything. We don't like one type of food, we listen to some specific music, we don't like to wear similar clothes, we don't even like to talk like others. And concerning TV shows our tastes are also different. Some of us like comedy shows, some of us like watch news and some of us watch only soap operas. It all depends on what type of personality you are, how much time you have on your hands and what possibilities you have. Well, it's hard to even count how many types of shows (or television programs) there are on modern television. Let's consider a few of them.

Soap operas are probably most widespread and popular types of TV shows all over the world. They are both loved by the audience and the TV producers as well – the more people watch them, the more money they'll get. The main feature of soap operas is of course showing the twists and turns of lives of the main characters (from millionaires to police officers) with lots of unexpected and interesting events.

Comedy shows. The subgenres of this genre are numerous: improvisational comedy, stand-up comedy, musical comedy and many others. The world famous comedy shows are The Benny Hill Show, Mr. Bean and many others.

Animated television shows, or cartoons are most loved by younger viewers. And this is natural – just try to imagine your life without them. The world would be different now, wouldn't it? There are many types of animated shows now, and many of them are not even intended to be watched by children.

Today television (together with radio and newspapers) is one of the most widespread and most influential mass media in the world. It’s a medium for information, education, political and cultural breeding of individuals.

One of the most popular types of television programs today is talk shows. Their popularity may have several reasons. First of all, people invited to talk shows discuss important issues that bother a lot of people at a certain moment of time.

The profession of a news reporter is getting more and more dangerous lately. Reporters are often sent to the places of military conflicts (like Afghanistan in the 1980’s and Iraq today) where they are as much in danger as the soldiers.

Advertising is a tool for moving the economy forward. In every developed and developing democratic country advertising is used by manufacturers to improve the level of the people’s awareness about their products and to increase the sales.

The twentieth century saw a lot of inventions. They all were intended for making life easier, more entertaining, and more thrilling. The mankind got television, computers, space shuttles, atomic power plants and disposable diapers.
